Sumbal, Apr 02 (KNO): Differences has erupted between two officials in municipal committee Sumbal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora which has affected work in the town amid COVID-19 outbreak after a female officer alleged harassment by MC president. The allegation was outrightly rejected by the president. President traders federation Sumbal, Jaan Mohammad while talking to wire service-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that due to controversy between the two officials, the work gets halted. “Whom should we blame when there is no cooperation between the officials? Instead of hitting the streets they should solve the issues inside their office,” he said. Since last two days, he said that they have not seen any sanitization or fumigation in the area because the officials have no cooperation between each other. “We urge administration to solve the problems as quick as possible so that people have not to suffer anymore,” he said. The local resident said that the work of president is highly appreciable, he is on ground since the outbreak of COVID -19 spreads. Executive Officer of Municipal Committee Sumbal, Ruhi Jan, alleged that the president of the municipal committee, Jehangir Ahmad, has been harassing her and other employees over official matters. She alleged that Jehangir Ahmad has "hijacked" her official position and sends false reports to higher officials of her being absent from duty. The Executive Officer (EO) said that Jehangir Ahmad has also written something derogatory about her on Facebook. “Despite the daily harassment, I attend office every day from early morning to late evening. I am leaving no stone unturned in implementing sanitisation and fumigation measures in the quarantine centres in our area. But still, I and other employees receive abuses from him,” she said. She said that she called a meeting of sweepers on Wednesday but the president locked all of them in his office room. “He wants to intimidate me," she alleged. Talking to—KNO, president Municipal Committee Sumbal Jahangir Ahmad while denying the allegation levelled against him by Executive Officer Sumbal and termed her allegations as baseless and fictitious. He said that the female officer is making false propaganda against me which will not be tolerated at any cost. While speaking Riyaz Ahmad supervisor of Sweepers in MC Sumbal said that the president has not locked us neither he asked us not attend the meeting of Executive Officer. “We are doing our job whosoever is instructing us to do we do follow the orders of both officers,” he said. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shabaz Mirza said that he will look into the matter—(KNO)
